Third Week of Ordinary Time

Heb. 11:1-2, 8-19 & Mk. 4:35-41

Most little children have complete faith and trust in their parents. They turn to them for their every need believing they can do anything, from soothing a pain to mending a toy. They live life with joy and abandon, just knowing that their parents are powerful and loving.

Faith should give us a firm confidence in what we hope for, a conviction about things we do not see. We are to be like little children who while at play do not see their parents but know that they are there to help. Like Abraham and Sarah, we are to live our lives with faith and confidence in God our Father.

We need faith at every moment of our lives, but especially when a storm of confusion threatens us and the waters of life become troubled and turbulent. In the darkness of the storm we cannot see our way and wonder where Jesus is in our moments of need. But if we have complete and child-like faith we shall be able to hear words of reassurance.

Lord Jesus, may our faith be loving and child-like, knowing that You are always at our side and You will never abandon us.
